Stephen is an internationally recognized expert in the field of forensic psychology and specifically in the clinical-forensic assessment and management of violence risk. He is also a professor of Psychology at Simon Fraser University, Canada, having joined the University faculty in 1994. He has been a visiting Professor at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Bergen in Norway, since 2000. Stephen has conducted training for legal, law enforcement, corrections and mental health professionals throughout North America, Europe, Asia, South Africa and Australia. Having graduated with a Ph.D. in clinical and forensic psychology from the University of British Columbia, Stephen has authored or co-authored over 200 scientific books, chapters and articles.
He is also the co-developer of numerous, internationally recognised risk assessment tools. He has also provided expert testimony before courts and tribunals at all judicial levels throughout North America.
