Ed is an Author, Arson/Bomb Investigator, Bomb Tech and Detective for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. He has been a Detective since 1990 and on the Arson/Explosives Detail since 1997. Prior to that he was a narcotics detective, and a detective specializing in burglary, assaults, fraud and auto theft. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Emergency Services Management.
Ed is a former US Marine from 1979-1991, attaining the rank of Captain. He was assigned as an artillery officer, a nuclear weapons specialist, and on a Terrorist Counter-Action team.

Ed has been name International Arson Investigator of the Year and Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for his work on arson investigations. He has received numerous other awards for his work. He has authored two books on arson cases.
